Chanel No 5 surprise strategy

The recent deviation from traditional brand and advertising styles for Chanel No. 5 perfume has sparked a good deal of debate online.
Brad Pitt’s insertion into the romantic goddess space marks a dramatic change for Chanel. It doesn’t work for me- and I’m of the generation blooded on memories of Brad’s youthful stranger appeal in Thelma and Louise. So it’s little surprise that his dishevelled appearance and random ravings in the new Chanel Ad do not impress Gen Y and Gen Z women. Who’s the creepy homeless guy, some have commented. Others know it’s Brad (that Brad) but remain unimpressed, preferring to associate the iconic french fragrance with stellar female beauties.
