Some 2009 research into print magazine ads and which ones engaged young readers produced some predictable results in terms of gender differences, product types and styles of advertisement. But there are some fascinating surprises as well, with one imported beer advert – showing a simple glass of beer – appealing just as much to young women as men. It’s interesting also to note how certain products such as Visa cards are advertised with variations on the same creative idea for the different genders.
