fffffonts

We fooled around with fonts this week, experimenting with “fresh eggs” until the word egg seemed odd. Like “odd”.

Some artists like NZer Colin McCahon understood the power of fonts to move, excite or command us.

Some sites that inspired us about fonts are Preserve http://www.preserve.co.nz/  which presents a stunning visual record of signage painted on buildings.

We meet in Ipswich, Qld. which has an abundance of heritage buildings and signs. As part of our project we’ll collect images of local Ipswich signs and think about the fonts used. If there aren’t any old signs on the freshly renovated heritage buildings we can always get out the spray cans.
